France and Quebec Make it easier for professionals

According to AFP, France and the government of Canada's French-speaking Quebec province signed a deal making it easier for skilled laborers and professionals to work across the Atlantic. Under the agreement, accountants, artisans, doctors, lawyers and even midwives are among the 23 categories of professionals whose qualifications will be recognized in France and in Quebec.
The accord illustrates the "exceptional quality of the relationship" between France and Quebec, said the provincial minister for international relations Pierre Arcand.
France's minister for cooperation Alain Joyandet called it a "world first" removing barriers in the way of labour mobility following an agreement signed in October 2008 by President Nicolas Sarkozy and Quebec Premier Jean Charest. Some 100,000 French nationals live, work and study in Quebec.
