The Trade Advisor is based in New York City
Organization:
The Trade Advisor is based in New York City and reports to the Distribution and Retail Director of the Consumer Goods Department.
The Trade Advisor assists the Director in covering the US markets for :
- E-commerce
- All retail concepts including franchise
- Private Label
- And others
The Consumer Goods Department assists French companies with their business development in the United States. We consult to French companies regarding the best channels of distribution for their products, and provide market knowledge and information related to communications/press, logistics, import regulations, etc. We organize promotional events for French products and invite groups of French companies to show their products in the U.S. We publish market studies researching trends and competition and introduce French companies to potential U.S. business partners including importers/distributors, agents, representatives, and retailers buyers.
Responsibilities:
The Trade Advisor will provide support in covering the above-mentioned industries for entire US territory. Under direct supervision and upon training by the Distribution Director, the Trade Advisor will contribute to the following activities:
Organize, prepare, and attend business meetings with French and U.S. partners (importers/distributors, agents, and retail buyers). Brief French companies before and after business meetings.
Research, information-gathering and content development for publications/articles
Annual event-planning
Networking / Develop relationship with importers/distributors, agents, and retail buyers through trade show visits, telephone calls, and store visits
Generate sales and promote the department activities to French exporters through partnerships, emailing, phone calls
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree or higher
Mastery of written and spoken French
Two to three years work experience in sales, retail industry. Strong networking skills required
Knowledge of distribution channels in the US particularly E-commerce, Web applications and Retail
Strong sales and networking skills
Pro-active individual who possesses the ability to take initiative and work independently
Team-player, able to integrate, contribute to, lead, and coordinate projects with other members of the Consumer Goods team
Capacity to multi-task, and high attention-to-detail
Willingness and ability to travel within the U.S. as well as in France
Working knowledge of basic computer applications, specifically search engines and databases
Benefits:
$49,800 salary (not negotiable) and 5 weeks paid vacation, bonus potential.
