immigration in France

I am interested in comparing attitudes towards immigration in the United States and in Europe. The immigrant group that stimulates the most controversy in the United States are those from Mexico and South America, in Europe it seems to be Muslim populations from various North African and Mid-Eastern locations, at least that is what we hear about in America. It is hard to know whether the degree of conflict described in our media is accurate.
